What are PFAS Chemicals?

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a large family of man-made chemicals that resist degradation, meaning they accumulate in the environment and in your body over time. While the two most well-known PFAS chemicals have been phased out of production, as many as 3000 other PFAS chemicals are still widely used, and it has been estimated that over 110 million people in the United States have water that is contaminated with PFAS1.

Protect What Matters Most

According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), current scientific research has shown that certain levels of PFAS may lead to the following health issues:

  • Decreased fertility
  • Increased risk of some cancers
  • Elevated cholesterol
  • Developmental delays in children
  • Weakened immune system
  • Hormone disruption

Both Kinetico’s K5 Drinking Water Station with VOC Guard and their PFAS-POU Filtration System utilize advanced carbon media and superior ultrafiltration technology to significantly reduce contamination from PFAS chemicals. In addition, these systems contain NanoSmartTM Technology that tackles other contaminants such as lead, VOCs, and harmful microbes.
